About IETE

 

The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is the national apex body of Professional engineers devoted to the advancement of Electronics, Telecommunications, IT and allied areas. IETE serves more than 69,000 members both individual and industrial organizations through its 55 centers spread all over India including one abroad.

The main objectives of IETE is to organize conferences, symposia, workshops & brain storming sessions involving concerned professionals, students, industry & associations for the advancement of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science & allied subjects.  All these activities are being conducted efficiently by the IETE Centres / Subcentres and student forums (ISF) under the guidance of IETE Head Quarters at New Delhi.

To cater to the needs of the corporate members & student members in and around Shimoga, the IETE Shimoga Centre is being setup.  This Centre has a geographical area of Shimoga, Davangere, Chitradurga & Chickmaglore districts.  This will be the 56th Centre of IETE & 5th Centre in Karnataka.  The IETE Shimoga Centre will be inaugurated at Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering on 01.03.2009 at 10.30 AM by Lt. Gen. Ashok Agarwal PVSM (Rtd), President, IETE in the presence of distinguished guests Brig.V.K.Pande, Secretary General, IETE, Sri. R. Laxminarayana Rao, Chairman, Bangalore IETE Centre, R.K.Gupta, Chairman-MLCC, Prof. K. Babu Rao and others. Sri. S.V.Thimmaiah, Secretary, NES, Shimoga, will be the guest of honor.

Shimoga was the second Professional Activity Centre which is very active till date. It is infact upgraded from Professional Activity Centre to Sub-Centre due to their sincere efforts made by Prof R Srinivasa Rao Kunte in launnching membership drive for membership to the level of 56 Corporate members.

It is worth mentioning that, the Professional Activities Centre of IETE (PAC) established in 2006 in JNNCE & the IETE students forum (ISF) of JNNCE started in 1995 are one of the active centres in the country.
